Beverly Clark: We need a witness
to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one
life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything.
The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things...
all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go
unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed
because I will be your witness'."
Noah: I am nothing special; just
a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments
dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have
succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with
all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.
Karen: Tell me, what would you do in my position?
Harry: What position is that?
Karen: Imagine your husband bought
a gold necklace and come Christmas gave it to somebody else...
Harry: Oh, Karen...
Karen: Would you wait around to find out
if it's just a necklace, or if it's sex and a necklace, or if worst of all it's a necklace and
love? Would you stay, knowing life would always be a little bit worse? Or would you cut and run?
Harry: Oh, God. I am so in the wrong. The classic fool.
Karen: [voice breaking] Yes, but you've also made
a fool out of me, and you've made the life I lead foolish too.
.:.
Mark: (on sheets of poster board) With any luck, by next year -
I'll be going out with one of these girls.
[shows pictures of beautiful supermodels]
But for now, let me say - Without hope or agenda -
Just because it's Christmas - And at Christmas you tell the truth -
To me, you are perfect - And my wasted heart will love you -
Until you look like this
[picture of a mummy]
Merry Christmas
Nia: I feel like I've
handed my life over to someone I never really knew. Which brings me
to the most disturbing question of all --- in the final analysis, it
really isn't safe to love someone?
Dr.
Beth: It doesn't matter if it's safe or not. It's what
we're meant to do. We're not any good alone, we're meant to be with
each other, and there's no guarantee, bad things do happen. People
die, people hurt us, we suffer through loss and betrayal. It just
means we're alive. And as bleak as things may seem right now, you
will heal, you will love again - because you have
to.
.:.
Dr. Beth:
Her heart, though bruised, will heal. But unfortunately, the greater
the pain, the harder the recovery.
Eddie: Deep down you
want him to come back. Well guess what, he did. He just did it with
the wrong woman. Why can't you just let it go?
Jane: Because I can't, because I was
happy, because if this theory were wrong, men don't leave all women
Eddie, they leave me.
Eddie: Maybe that's why we hold on as
hard as we do. We just don't believe that such a miracle can happen
to us twice. But it can. Someday you'd find it
again, I promise you --- and Ray is not the last man you're
ever going to love.
.:.
Jane:
There are few things sadder than watching the person you love walk
away after they've left you. Watching the distance between your
bodies expands, until there's nothing except space and silence.
William
Thacker: I live in Notting Hill. You live in Beverly Hills.
Everyone in the world knows who you are; my mother has troubles
remembering my name.
Anna Scott: I'm also
just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love
her.
Jerry
Fletcher: Love gives you wings.
It makes you fly. I don't even call it love. I call it Geronimo.
When you're in love, you'll jump right from the top of the Empire
State and you won't care, screaming "Geronimo" the whole way down. I
love her so bad, I just... whoa, she wrecks me. I'd die for
her.
Andrew:You have no idea what it feels like to be in love with someone that is about to marry someone else.
'Till There Was
You (1997) Gwen Moss: Come in, I've been
expecting you. There's a knock on the door and love walks
through. And lights a fire and smiles a smile. As if love were going
to stay a while. And the fire breathes and weaves its spell. But
then love runs out of lies to tell. For love is restless, love's a
flirt. Love has places to go and people to hurt. So here's the
shovel to smother the flame. Tomorrow you'll barely remember my
name. And I'll try to forget you, my dearest one. As a prisoner
tries to forget the sun. For life holds no purpose, and love holds
no charms. Since I beheld you in another's arms.
Annie: I'm very sorry I've ever met
you. And I'm sorry that I allowed myself to love you for all those
years. I'm sorry that I did nothing but be there for you every
minute of every hour and support you in you're every move. I'm
sorry!
Julianne 'Jules'
Potter: Michael... I love you. I've loved you for nine
years, I've just been too arrogant and scared to realize it, and...
well, now I'm just scared. So, I realize this comes at a very
inopportune time but I really have this gigantic favor to ask of
you. Choose me. Marry me. Let me make you happy. Oh, that sounds
like three favors, doesn't it?
.:.
Michael O'Neill: Kimmy says if
you love someone you say it, you say it right then, out loud.
Otherwise the moment just...
Julianne
Potter: Passes you by... Michael
O'Neill: Passes you by...
Wolf
(1994)Will: I've never loved anybody this way. I
never looked at a woman and thought, if civilization fails, if the
world comes to an end, I'd still know what God meant if I were with
her.
